It is dusty and the sites are close together with no privacy yet we stills had a great time. If you are after a private getaway than check out the National parksspots. They are not on the lake but are very secluded.
Beautiful Area. Staff are friendly and helpful but the place is overcrowded mid summer. There were so many people and the camp spots can be a little too close together in some places. Ours was relatively excluded which I liked but the parking was a problem. We ended up parking at the swim area and walking to our camp which was luckily close by, via an unofficial trail. The bathrooms are okay but crowded and people use the electricity to cook food and stuff which is weird. It's kinda loud at night. Overall it was just very crowded which makes it feel less like getting away in the woods. I feel they should let only so many vehicles per site and give passes out so any additional cars park in overflow so everyone can get one car to the site at least. This is an amazing place to camp early or late season when less people are around. The swim area is nice and the national park is just spectacular for hikes and outdoor activities.
Its a great family place. They dont allow drinking, smoking, or dogs on the beach. If you want any combination of those there are plenty of spots right around it. Which I do however when I want a relaxing place to take the family with no idiots making problems this is a great spot
I enjoy the beach here, weekdays are quiet, weekends are busy. The camp ground seems well used, and RV parking is on blacktop, but close to the lake and facilities. The swim area is well protected from boats or fast water, great access to fun places to kayak. You can rent kayaks or other boats at the marina.
We enjoyed our stay here as it was right near the lake and good for kids. We were in the C section of the campsite. If you are ok with walking in you can get a spot right on the lake. This was a great spot during the heatwave. It is also convenient as a launching point for lots of local hikes.
A horrible place to camp. My backyard is much prettier to camp in and no obnoxious drunks to contend with. I would NOT recommend this campground to ANYBODY !
We enjoyed playing on the public beach and swimming from our campsite. The little store was handy for buying ice and firewood. On Saturday night they played an Outdoor Movie The Good dinosaur which was fun for our family. We also got to take part in The Junior Ranger program which you can ask about when you enter the park at the visitor information centre. The Rangers hosted a night where you could learn about the constellations and look at planets through telescopes.
